there are so many ways to keep korporate secret from leaking. we can shared documents to smithereens, forward digital files in encrypted form, and even soundproofing the conference rooms. The third way would be hard to implement because soundproofing a whole room could cost a lot of time and money.
But Japanese company Tokyo Blind has introduced a technology that can absord sound by up to 60% using a common material and can be installed easily. Feltone, as its name suggests, is name of felt and looks like ordinary blinds that can be put up on windows or walls. The manufacturer says Felton blinds can be installed in just about two hours and costs up to 90% less than traditional soundproof panels.
The blinds work by absorbing sound, but there has to be distance of 50 to 200 millimeters between the blind slats and the wall. They say the layer of air contributes to the sound absorption process.
Although Feltone is less expensive than current soundproofing materials, it still does not come cheap. A 2m x 2m blind costs $1,500. Feltone is currently only available in Japan, targetting companies, as well as home theater owners and families with children.
